Is it me or when you advertise items you are selling on Craigslist you get some real idiots?
The ad basically said we had a leather couch for sale that is 2 yrs old in EXCELLENT condition - gave the price - said CASH ONLY and said it had to be picked up. Out of that we got:
One lady who came to see it after we told her the price and repeatedly told her it was NOT negotiable. She came with less money so she left empty handed. Nice try!
2 people tried to scam me with those stolen checks and offfering "extra" money when I said CASH ONLY. Totally ignored them.
I got one man who tried to negotiate the price. He then asked if it was real leather and if we bought it used after I told him it was from Levitz... Yeah we paid $900 for a pleather couch from Levitz..
And to top it off - he asked if someone could help him move it. UMM..are you serious? You tried to negotiate the price and now want help moving it too???
OY VAY!!! What the h e l l is wrong with people???
Vent over!

Re: Is it me or when you advertise items you are selling on Craigslist you get some real idiots?
Craigslist is lowball central. I just deal with it because it is what it is. Since I sell a lot of stuff on Craigslist, I just accept that I have to deal with occasional idiots.
Yeah can't stand the guys who show up then try to haggle. Had one guy over on Saturday wanted to buy a $170 item and then comes over looks at the item and then says "How bout $150?".
When I told him nope, he then asked me if I had another item available that I was also selling that that was a $400 item. He said he would take both. So I had no problem selling him the first item for $150 when he was buying a second one for $400.
Then he called me later on that evening and bought another $350 item. Made $900 bucks off him in one day, a guy that started off as a lowballer.
Just makes me because he obviously has money to burn, but the guys that have the money to burn are usually the penny pinchin' ones!

I don't sell that often, but I literally sat here BOGGLED at this "VP" of some company who is trying to haggle me. It was a back and forth thing..until I finally said NO we cannot come down on the price - and he wrote back "ok you win"
It's just amazing. He would NEVER find a leather couch for the price he wanted us to sell it to him for.

Ha! Try posting an apartment!
I cant even tell you the breed of people who respond to those ads.
We want NON-Smokers... All we get are smokers who insist they will smoke outside. Um.. yeah, okay. Try smoking outside when its 14 degrees out.
We tell them its a 2 bedroom small apartment- We get a family of 5 who insist the apartment is big enough for all of them.
We tell them small pets only... One guy wanted to move in with his German Shepard.
Then we get the people that work "off the books" so we cannot verify their income.
I've got stories to tell.
