Is it okay? Comedian makes homophobic remark to Little Richard

Hi I have never started a topic before but I didn't see anyone mention this and I just wanted to get other people's opinion.

I watched "The Next Best Thing" last night, the cheezy ABC show where people do celebrity impersonations and apparently the viewers vote- it was the finale.

So they had a Little Richard impersonator and a Tina Turner impersonator doing a duet. After a few minutes they revealed the real Little Richard at a piano, and he performed with them. The crowd loved it! After the performance, (like Americal Idol), the judges each said something about the performers, and most of them also said how great it was to have the real Little Richard there and I know at least one praised him as a rock and roll legend.

Then one judge, Jeffrey Ross, said "In the beginning of
the show we had two kings..." (apparently there were two Elvis impersonators doing a duet). Then he said "now we have three queens". (referring to Tina Turner, the Little Richard impersonator and the real Little Richard.)

Now, on the one hand this comedian is supposed to make fun of people, and people laugh when he rips into the impersonators, so maybe you should expect this sort of thing, but on the other hand this was a guest that was invited not a contestant, as well as a legendary performer, so doesn't he deserve respect?

(I didn't know if this belonged on celebrity gossip but I see comments on tv shows here a lot, plus I think it's more about the commment made than the show itself.)

I guess it's just kinda weird since Little Richard is not openly gay (though it might be pretty difficult to convince people that he isn't). It's not like it was Elton John up there who has called himself a queen at times.

That's exactly what I was thinking, he dresses flamboyantly but it's not the same as if he was openly gay- I even was thinking of Elton John at the time!

And yes I saw his reaction he looked po'd!
