Is it okay to see a chiropractor during pregnancy?
I have always had back problems but although im only 9 weeks on Saturday night i experienced such bad sciatica pains. The pain went all the way down my leg. I tried heating pads but nothing. Do you think i can see a chiropractor? When can i start doing prenatal massages after my first trimester?

yes. check with your Dr. but it should be fine. I use to work for a chiro and we had PG women come in. I went a few times and a friend of mine went religiously because of her back issues.

I would talk to your OB about the chiropractor and the prenatal massage (the chiropractor/massage place may want a note from the OB saying it is ok), but as long as they give you the OK, go for it! My mom swears that going to the chiropractor was the only thing that kept her going when she was pregnant with my brother and I because she has bad back problems.

defiantely go and as PP said check with your dr. My dr said absolutely but she said i may have a hard time finding a dr that adjusts pg women. Mine does and has been adjusting me weekly since day 1 (i am 14 weeks).

Absolutely! My husband is a chiro and highly recommends it 
Definitely just let your doctor know, he/she ahould know or advise of any additional alternative treatments you'd want to do.

my chiro is fine with me being pregnant, but i also got massages every other week and those had to stop until i am in my 2nd trimester

Absolutely! I've been going for probably almost 2 years now and never stopped once I got pregnant. I go once a week and I love it, couldnt live without it. I also have gotten 2 prenatal massages already through the office because my insurance covers it....Its wonderful. But like I said the chiropractor helps so much. I havent had any back pain, my pelvis is nice and open which of course is great for child birth and Im feeling great! Good luck and I hope you feel better!!

thanks everyone it gives me sort of hope that i can get some relieve through pregnant! I was miserable on Saturday. I was watching platinum weddings at 3am bc i couldnt sleep.
I will ask my ob when i see her in 2wks but in the meantime can you please send me your chiro's infos, since i dont know of anyone.
Jenn-is your husband in the city or LI? Does he see pregnant ladies?

YES! i had very bad sciatica my last triemester with DC#1 and it did help some. i also did pre-natal massages in my chiros office with his massage therapists.

If it weren't for going to the chiropractor, I wouldn't be able to walk!!! I had severe sciatic pain during most of the month of November - any reputable chiropracter should know how to adjust you in a way that will not bother you at all in the belly area. Mine actaully has a special table and pillow specifically for pregnant ladies. He said that the only sciatic/back pain he can't cure is when you are over 8 months and the baby actually lays on your nerve. Good Luck and feel better <3
