Is it possible to use dvc points on Disney cruise...

I am not a member..but was wondering if it is poss to use/buy someone else's points towards a Disney cruise...and how many pts would I need for 2 adults 3 kids

it is possible but it's not advisable.

It takes a CRAZY amount of points. The CHEAPEST 7 day cruise for an inside stateroom is 169-172 points, which is more points than most people have in a year. You don't have to pay for every person in points, but you need to pay for a whole person in points.

Let's say it's 170 points and you paid $10 per point. That's $1700 per person.

Paying cash the same cruise and stateroom is under $1700 for TWO people.

I can't imagine a time it would make sense to use points for a cruise unless you had a ton of them on your own and needed to use them up but did not want to sell them.

ETA: Also, you would have to rent from someone who is grandfathered in to the ol rule or who bought direct, since resale points can't be used for cruises. I wouldn't even think about it

The best way to save money on a Disney Cruise is to book as early as possible, travel during the school year if you can, and take a cruise out of NY if you're travelling this summer to save on airfare.

i agree with jennifer its definitely not worth it

your right about renting points form resale after march 2011 not being able to use resale points towards a cruise.

however all resale points purchased PRIOR to march 2011 are eligible to be used on cruises.
