Is it really worth it to go to Open Houses?
We went today....I feel like the houses we would like (and be in our price range) are out there but are not shown as Open Houses.
We saw one today that we loved....an Executive Spilt...but it was way to much $$$

Yes, Yes and Yes!! even if the homes you are looking at are out of your price range or less than what you could afford, it will help you to realize what is available for the price. The more houses you see the better able you will be to make a decision on what you can get for your money and what you are willing to sacrifice!

Exactly!! You can get a feel for the different style of homes that you like (or don't like) and you will also become more educated and have a better feel for the market and what homes in certain areas are priced at.

No way! Go to as many as possible, in different areas that you are considering!! Big houses, little houses, new house and old! The more you see the more you will know your dream home when you see it and the quicker you will move so that some one else doesn't grab it from you!!!

yes definitely! And don't judge the house by it's exterior - it can always be changed and the inside might be awesome!

No, y our not wasting your time. Do you have a realtor though? This might be helpful in finding houses with your style and price range.
The realtor we used was great... not pushy at all. I never felt pressured.

I think it is, because even if we don't end up liking the house overall, we see things about certain rooms, or see what the overall condition of the house (and the outside) is in to compare prices with other homes.
I also found it was really helpful in getting a feel for the neighborhood, especially if it is in an area we don't know well.

Definately worth it! If we didn't go to as many as we did, we would have never realized that we truly wanted a splanch & that is what we got. You will see exactly what your "must" haves will be!

i think open houses are a great way to see styles of homes in person, room sizes & other things that will help you with your final decision.

My exact sentiments. We went to both Open Houses and scheduled appts with houses we were interested in. You learn by seeing a whole lot and gathering info on what you won't settle for and what you can do without.

They're definitely worth going to. It keeps you in the loop of what's out there not to mention, if what you're looking at doesn't work for you the showing agent may have something else that does.
It's hard and certainly disheartening to see so many homes that don't work for you for one reason or another but eventually you'll find something!
