Is it safe to swim in a pool?
I'm 37 weeks and I keep forgetting to ask my doctor if it's safe to swim in a pool. I'm thinking it's okay as long as my water doesn't break while I'm in it! What do you think? My husband runs a pool and I've been taking my 2 year old there.

I would hope so! I've been swimming in a pool throughout this whole pregnancy!

I only imagine that it would be a problem if your water was to break or the pool isn't properly chlorinated and then there could be a lot of bacteria floating around.

I had my son in August. My Dr said not to go in the pool..especially bc you wont know if your water breaks! So..i used to just soak myself with a hose..lol

I'm 37 weeks too and I just asked about this. I was told probably not a good idea at this point since there is a risk of infection and your water breaking.

I don't see why not-my OB actually encourages me to get in the pool! If it is dirty or green, I wouldn't go in, but otherwise I say go for it!

i agree. not all women's waters break naturally anyway. the chances of it breaking, you being in a pool with bacteria, and then the bacteria entering you are small IMHO. i would swim and enjoy feeling weightless.
