Is it too early to say this or not...
Maybe it's because I am used to being let down by them but I just have this gut feeling that the Mets season is done and they can make a turnaround... but they are falling into a slump right now that they can't seem to get out of...
I hope they pull out of this slump they are in by the end of the weekend otherwise it's over for them, in my opinion. Besides I can't see us in the playoffs with the pitching staff we have. Our starters are solid but our closers??? They would only embarrass us more in the playoffs than they are doing right now. There is not one reliever who we can even remotely feel confident in...looper? hernandez? graves? heilman? bell? etc..etc...etc...
I don't know...maybe i'm feeling down cut they are in this slump. The new Mets are starting to look a lot like the old mets with a couple of new superstars...
Who cursed us??????? i'm trying to figure it out...

Bedda, I couldn't agree with you more. I have zero confidence in our bullpen right now and the offense is erratic. I'm not ready to give up on them for this year yet, but we need to start winning some series. We need to stay at or above .500. If they can, then I think the division winner will be determined in September when everyone plays one another. However, I don't want them to be SEVEN games behind. We need to trim this down to 3 or 4 games in the next couple of weeks or by the all-star break.

Neither am I. The next couple of weeks should tell us which way we are going. I really hope we're not talking about who to trade away come mid-July.

I meant trading away core guys - like Glavine and Cameron. I agree, we need some help in the pen NOW! Why is Koo back on the team?
3-1 Mets today - though 4

Re: Is it too early to say this or not...
Season is definitely not over.
There is no clear cut good team in the NL East right now. The top two teams are the Nationals and Philly. Come on.
The team that I figured would take it all (Florida) is struggling. Atlanta is no great shakes.
If the Mets can find a way to start winning series (take two out of three, three out of four)... or even split series on the road... they will be in good shape.
I have a feeling Omar will make some moves. Unlike other teams... we have plenty of barganing chips out there for trades.

Re: Is it too early to say this or not...
Like I wrote before, I really think the division is for anyone to take and it's going to come down to September we all play one another. All we need to do is hang around until then and not drift too far out of it.
