Is it true (morning sickness related)...

... that you take after your mother when it comes to morning sickness?

I'm NOT pregnant or TTC (probably 2008) but I just want to know what i'm in for. My mom had really horrible morning sickness when she was pregnant. Morning, noon and night. Had to get shots. Even had to quit her job because of it.

I have two co-workers that are pregnant and we were just talking about it at work the other day. One of my coworkers had NO morning sickness and neither did her mother. The other one had it bad and so did her mother.

So, is this true? If so... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Is it true (morning sickness related)...

No- my mother says she had the worst morning sickness with me. In fact to this day she says whenever she hears Johnny Nash's song, "I Can See Clearly Now" it STILL makes her stomach turn (apparently it was always on the radio when she was pregnant with me).

I have had a few queasy moments, but nothing I would consider true "morning sickness".

My sister also never had ms with my nephew.

My mom had 6 kids -- she remembers once that she had to eat Saltines. So I would say she did not suffer from m/s. Nor did my oldest sister, nor do I...

Not true for me at all. My mother with both her pg's was sick 24/7 for the whole 9 months, she was hospitalized a couple times too.

With DD is had the dizzies for about 3 weeks, that was it.

My mom always said that morning sickness was in my head because she never had any and I wanted to throw up at the sight or even thought of any food with Emma and Jeremy. This baby I can understand what she meant. I have no MS this pregnancy.

No and the strethmarks theory didn't hold true in my case either. My mom threw up every morning with my brother and I(for 3 mos) and I didn't once. My mom also go really bad stretchmarks and I got none. Go figure???

My mom and I were about the same. We both had lots of food aversions and gagging. The only difference is that I had a week of migraines and she didn't.

I'm hoping that I labor like she did too. I was born 4 hours after she went into labor!

I think it is sort of true. My mom had morning sickness where she threw up. I have WAY worse m/s then she had. Her's stopped at 12 weeks and I am almost 16 weeks and mine is still going strong.

My MIL never had m/s and my SIL didn't have it either.

I agree with this too! I was born in 6 hours and my sister in 45 minutes and in the bag of waters.

Re: Is it true (morning sickness related)...

Nope. My mother barely had any morning sickness. I was sick as a dog for the entire pregnancy.
