Is it true that nurseries and/or landscape companies will remove....
my full grown, beautiful shrubs for free because then they can sell them? We have all these beautiful, mature shrubs and bushes around our house, but they're too close to the house and we need to get rid of them, however, I'd hate to see them get thrown into a wood chipper by the town. Anyone have experience with this?

I never heard of this but I don't doubt it.
When we had many shrubs pulled out by our landscapers, they asked us if we would like to donate them to the local bird sanctuary. We said yes, of course, I was really happy about that. I even went to visit my old plants (I knew what they looked like and where they were planted). Only thing was our removal certainly wasn't free, but either way I was getting it done so that wasn't a concern to me.
