Is just about 14 weeks too early to see the gender?

Just wondering... if the sono tech took a guess and felt pretty confident, do you think it's accurate?

I would not rely on it. My sono tech said it was a girl and then I got my amnio results and the 20 week sono both said boy.

I wouldn't rely on it either! My OB wouldn't even venture a guess. I had a CVS test done at 12 weeks and since it a chromosomal analysis, I know 100% what the baby is. Even at 20 weeks, there can be some uncertainty.

We went for sonos every two weeks. We always asked for a guess and from 14 weeks on everyone said girl...they were all right!

I think it depends on their position. When I was 14wks, they tried to tell me the gender but my baby was facing the wrong way. Ummm .... he was showing us his butt and had his legs crossed at the time!! Very much NOT the position he needed to be in for us to see the gender!! At 16wks, we got a clear view. I drank lots of orange juice before my appt.

I was wondering when u were due? Haha I'm guessing they said

I am 15 weeks.

Well don't start buying stuff in pink just yet. Haha.. I could be accurate but I would wait till anatomy scan to be sure.

With my first DD, the technician wouldnt guess until the 20 week sonogram.

For this pregnancy, the technician took a guess at 12 weeks and said it was a girl (with about 80 percent confidence). At my 20 week appointment, it was confirmed - its a girl!

I dont know how accurate it is at 14 weeks. But I sure cant wait to hear what your having

prob better than 12 weeks.
I think you can get better results, I would not go shopping till after 20 week scan tho.

They told my gf 90% chance it was a boy, and it was. Maybe if the baby is in the right position they will be able to tell.

It depends on who is doing the sono. If you go to a place where the tech is very experienced at determining gender and are using a number of ways to tell (more than just do I see a penis or do I see the 3 lines of a vagina) their percentages of being correct at 13 weeks are VERY high. If you google statistics you can see that. However, as explained to me by the tech that did mine, there are MANY misleading things that a sono tech can see/ think they see- so it is easy for someone inexperienced in gender determination (not necessarily inexperienced at sonos in general) to make a mistake.

There was some confusion at the beginning of my pregnancy. Basically it all started when the tech at my NT scan said 90% boy and I was shocked to hear a "guess" that early and started looking for more confirmation. One tech thought it was a girl and two others (besides from the NT sonographer) thought it was a boy. The one that thought it was a girl very quickly saw the "3 lines" and made her determination. The other two actually took the times to explain why it was a boy- more THAN "I see a penis" AND explained why the other tech (who was not really a gender specialist like some of the people at the 3d type places are) was wrong. They explained what she saw that looked like the 3 lines which is a mistake they have seen in the past.

I was 13 weeks btw.

I was 13weeks 6 days and I could see the penis immed. I asked and the sono explained everything to me why it was boy besides me seeing what I thought I saw , it all depends on the machine and person doing it
