Is my MIL jealous or is it my hormones...
Last night I told my MIL that it looks like we were having another little girl. unlike my mom who did squealing she was like "Oh another girl thats nice" (no excitement in the voice whatso ever) Then she asked if we had names picked out. We do, DH loves Taylor Chase (Chase is middle name) so I told her. She says-oh -no its pretty nada. Then it was a short convo and an even quicker hang up. I dont know how to take this, there is a part of me who thinks she may be jealous because she tried 3X for a girl and never got one (she wanted us to name our 1st daughter after her...) When she found out a few weeks ago I hoped for another girl she said she personally hopes its a boy-I gave her a look and she quickly claimed its so the family name can go on..DUH you have three sons... is it my hormones or does something sound a little off. She is usually a lovely lady but I've gotten a weird vibe for both pregnancies like she wishes she was the one who got the girl.

I would say don't read too much into everything she says, give her the benefit of the doubt. Like you said she is usually a nice person.
There is other stuff that has happened too. With my first she made the comment that my daughter looks nothing like me-that she looks like her and would ask anyone who would listen if she did. Dh asked her to stop becuase it was getting hurtful.
Snowprincess-i think its a beautiful name too and I am not changing it

Maybe she is jealous, but I think I would understand. If she had all boys and really wanted a girl...its understandable as long as shes not being nasty, I would see her point and then let it go....Not everyone is the best at being tactful and pushing their feelings aside.
It may not be nice, but dont let it hurt you.

i agree but she needs to get over it. she should be happy that now she has 2 beautiful grand-daughters!! and she's already experienced raising boys... so she gets the best of both worlds.

I don't know if I can tell from reading your post what her reaction means, but she seems pretty unenthusiastic about the whole thing to me. It seems a little late in her life to be dwelling over the fact that she never had a daughter, so if that were the case you can pretty much conclude that she is pathetic!
In any case, whether she was really excited or not she should have made it out like she was overjoyed regardless....you are having a baby here!!

Yeah, I am just glad that the rest of the family was overjoyed. I love her but there are other issues I wont get into. I know she loves me and is worried about me being sick but she has a jealous side when it comes to people. As for this baby I am not worried about her lol FIL wanted another girl and he cant stop rubbing it in

Just wanted to give you a big
sorry that anyone would make you feel less than thrilled that you're having a healthy baby! The fact you wanted a and having a 2nd CUTE!!!! I wouldn't pay her to much attention...
I'm the total opposite- my DH has 3 brothers, so my MIL had 4 boys! She's so overjoyed it's a girl- it's scary! She even called my Mom to say she'll have to show her what to do w/a little girl! LOL
