My only concern with Roslyn would be the budget scandal, and if school taxes would be increased a lot down the line to implement what ever the changes are going to be.

You can do a search on Newsday about the scandal, they had a lot of stories on it.

I tempted in a dental office in Roslyn for 2 years 1st day I got lost found myself by the high school turned right down that block that faces the high school to make a uturn after calling the office and I was SHOCKED at what I saw for Roslyn- I thought perhaps I was in a different town but nope it was Roslyn. you would have to drive over there to get your own opinion, I feel bad if someone on here lives near there.

Re: Is Roslyn Heights a good area?

That are you are looking at is very good....There is an area in front of the highschool and near the train tracks that is not as desirable....but behind the highschool is very desirable

They call it the "projects of Roslyn"
It's a lower income housing area.

For the poster...the area you are looking at is very nice!

That's a small area right off Roslyn Rd across from the school. It's not huge but doesn't seem to be that diserable. Small houses, many run down, although I haven't been there in years. Overall, Roslyn is a beautiful area.

the area you're looking in is fine and nice. the poster is referring to lincoln avenue area where yes, there is low income housing. but if you go down over the train tracks to warner ave, that's good again. the not so great part is literally just a few blocks.

Re: Is Roslyn Heights a good area?

It looks like this is an old post that was bumped but I can vouch for Roslyn Heights.

Not ALL parts of Roslyn Heights fall in the Roslyn School district. There is a small part of Roslyn Heights that is west of Willis Avenue and slightly north as well as slightly south of the NSP and LIE that is the HERRICKS school district.

I grew up in Roslyn Heights and was a product of the Herricks schools myself. The taxes are very high but Herricks is not dealing with school issues the way Roslyn is (or was) and is still considered one of the most desireable school districts on the north shore to send children to. People are waiting to pounce on my mother's house once we put it up for sale and when she was alive, she used to get calls all the time asking if we were selling.

FYI There are projects in the Great Neck and Manhasset area as well.
