Is the chickenpox vaccine REQUIRED for entrance into school?
I didnt think it was. But on the pre-school notice it says it is

ugghhh...I just got him the MMR vaccine 2 weeks ago. I definitely dont want to give him the chickenpox right now

I just took my DS for his 5 yr well visit today and got the scoop on this! The 1st one is required for pre-K. I think he was between 3 and 4 when he got it. The 2nd one is not required for kindergarten (I thought it was), but it IS for 1st grade.

Hmm DD#2 had a documented case of chicken pox when she was 4mths old so vaccine was not needed. I hope no one gives me a hard time about it.

If you have a documented case, you don't need the vaccine (DS had it at 11 months).
