Is the name Christian too "Shades of Gray"?
I have always loved the name Christian for a boy and was planning to name #2 (due in late nov) that. However, I went to lunch with some coworkers who are into the book "Shades of Gray" (I never read them) and they said everyone will be naming thier sons Christian these days. AND..my daughters name is Annalia and they said it would be funny since the other character (not sure who) name is Annabella or something like that. I don't like common names (like Michael, John etc) Thoughts?/

Is the name Christian too
I think when the baby is born you will probably have a lot of people wonder if that is where the name came from...but im sure in a few years the popularity of the books will die down and no one will relate the two.
i had a girls name picked out since i was like 10 and if they happened to write a book about it or it became a popular name it wouldnt change my mind...id still stick with it.

Is the name Christian too
I read the books and honestly don't think of them when I hear that name. I do think it will be more popular because of the books though.

Re: Is the name Christian too "Shades of Gray"?
I think some people might wonder, but Christian is a well known/popular name. If it was super unique then sure everyone would assume that is where you got it.
I wouldn't worry. I know 3 boys/men named Christian and have always liked the name before 50 shades
Also the female Character is " Anastasia" and they call her " Ana"
ETA- I agree I am sure there will be a huge spike in the amount of people using the name Christian now. So as long as you don't mind using a popular name I would still use it.

Not at all! Christian was popular long before 50 Shades!
If it were a more unique name, then maybe people would associate it with the book, but I think it's a classic that stands on its own.

Not related but I saw a saying the other day that made me laugh...."Is the world prepared for the baby boom that Shades of Grey and Majic Mike have caused "

Keep the name it's a great. Like ppl said it's not like its an unusual name. When I had dd there were 5 ppl on the floor who named their son Mason and the nurse swore it was bc of the Kardashians.

Re: Is the name Christian too "Shades of Gray"?
My DD is Lila and I had someone ask me if I got the name from General Hospital Chances are, some character in a book/movie will share your child's name. If you like it, use it! 50 Shades is a fad of the moment, but you're son's name is forever.

Is the name Christian too
Christian is a regular name, if people really think that, they're ridiculous. If you like the name do it

Re: Is the name Christian too "Shades of Gray"?
I don't think so.
I read the books, and I thought they sucked, so for me, I kind of eliminated all association with it in my brain.
I also have a brother-in-law and nephew with the name Christian, and never once did I associate THEM with the character in the book.
