Is the Orientation at Winthrop really necessary?
It doesn't include a tour - just a 90 minute video Can I skip it?

Re: Is the Orientation at Winthrop really necessary?
I did the orientation AND the tour.
The orientation was great. Very informative. They had a ped there too and I think people asked her questions for about 1 hour (it just depends on the ped that is there that day and the moms/dads' questions). They will tell you were to go, etc..
I did the tour. It was useless to me. You get to see one L&D room. That's it! You don't see the OR, triage, nursery, etc.. I wasted my time doing it. Especially since I went for a "false alarm" at 34 weeks afterwards so I got to see more that day than the tour.
ETA: you can skip it. I just liked to know where to go, where to park, after hour/night entrance, etc.

We skipped the Orientation. My BF went a couple of months before us and told us not to waste our time!

Re: Is the Orientation at Winthrop really necessary?
Not necessary. They went over some pediatrician group affiliated with Winthrop, visiting hours and a slide show. That was about it!
