is there a place i can look up types of spiders
based on their descriptions?
i have the oddest looking thing that creeps into my apt every once in a while. hasn't been around since it got cold...but one showed up today!!!
i want to know what i'm dealing with. any suggestions?

i live in levittown.
it is long and hairy! 
seriously...it is long, with lots of legs that have stripes on them. ugh...i get so creeped out when i see one!!

Normally I'd do the google search for you to try to locate it, but I am disgustingly afraid of spiders and the thought of looking at them gives me the heebeegeebees.
I would just google "types of spiders". I'm sure websites will show up with all pics, names, and descriptions. Look for the critter that looks closest to yours and get to reading.

i thought of this! but i, too, think i will get WAY to creeped out to see lots of pictures of spiders. was hoping to only look at those that fit my description. let me see though..

I had a weird spider once, and I found a spider forum and posted a picture of it! I actually wound up emailing the picture to an entomology professor at Cornell, who was so helpful and emailed me back a description of the spider.
So I suggest taking a picture of it next time you see it.
