Is there any bank that offers free safe deposit box?
I went today to Chase (my bank) to open DS's savings acct. They charge $75/yr. I know its not a lot but I was just wondering if any banks offer free safe deposit boxes for the savings bonds.

I don't know any who do.
FYI, not sure if you now this, or if it helps, but the fee is tax-deductible.

We have a free one at Chase. It came with my DH's account - maybe there is a certain minimum balance?

They didnt ask what the balance is. He checked and just said I didnt qualify. Maybe I havent been a customer long enough first.  Its ok, I was just asking.

I am pretty sure that my DH got one at Captial One for free, though we have several accounts there.

Ours was free at Chase but you had to sign up for a certain account to get it, I can't remember which one though. We have a checking and two savings (ours and Joeys) maybe it was Joeys?

I can get a free one through Citibank because I have my mortgage with them and have it linked to a CitiGold account.
