is there any way to slice an apple and keep it from browning?
DS starts a new school on Monday and I have to send lunch and snack. I want to send him sliced apples but he doesnt like the skins. If I cut it for him at home I am afraid it will be brown and yucky by the time he gets to school.
The only place I know that sells peeled, cut apples is McDonalds. I get those with DS's happy meals but I dont know if they sell them seperately.

rub them with a lemon
Will it give the apple a lemon smell or taste though?

Lemon juice sprayed on it will be unnoticeable. it will not smell or taste like lemon. it keeps it from browning.

when we make fruit salad with cut apples in it, we squeeze an orange over the salad and it keeps all the fruit fresh and doesnt turn the apples brown.

They have them at Stop and Shop too.. but I have to say they seem to expire pretty quickly.

I'll check there.
The ones I saw at my stop and shop had the skins on them.
