Is there anyone here who has epilepsy and got pregnant?
I have a really close friend who is thinking about TTCing and wanted some information before she goes to her dr.
Did you see your nuerologist first before OB or RE?
Please feel free to FM me!
Thanks so much!

Re: Is there anyone here who has epilepsy and got pregnant?
I had a seizure years and years ago.... but have been off of medication for years prior to TTC.
Your friend should probably go to the neurologist first, but also speak to an OB prior to TTC. From my limited experience, physicians outside of the OB field tend to playdown medication risks to fetuses... while the OB, since it's at the forefront of their mind continually, often provides more accurate information.
(so if she has to switch medication, she should figure out what to change with the neurologist, and then get the thumbs-up from the OB before proceeding....)
also, I hear that rhythmic labor pains can be a problem with some epileptic moms... so it may be that her Drs would recommend a CS.

A friend of mine got pregnant unexpectedly while taking her epilepsy medication. She had a great, uneventful pregnancy and remained on her medication. She was unable to BF though.
