Is there still an E.Coli risk with spinach?
I'm asking because I made a dinner on Monday night with fresh spinach. Monday night, at around 10pm, the baby woke up throwing up --- it was bad and lasted till about 3am.
She is also on prednisone so we thought it was that, even though the doctor said vomiting from prednisone is rare. She hasn't thrown up again, but has had diarhea so bad today. The doctor suggested it could be a stomach virus.
Then last night my DH became ill. He was sick all night into the morning at at around 9:30 this AM my FIL took him to the hospital because he was in so much pain from vomiting all night. I keep calling the hospital since I can't go there because of the baby, and because I'm sick now too, and they just keep telling me that they are doing tests. I don't know what is going on with DH. FIL has a bad headcold and is running a fever so he went home and is resting at home.
To make matters worse at around 11am I started getting sick, and I've been in the bathroom throwing up ALL day. I'm at the point where I feel weak, have body aches, and am getting the chills.
I am just scared now. I just called the pediatrician's emergency number and am waiting for him to call me back. I wish I knew what the test results were for my DH...I didn't even think of E.Coli until a few minutes ago.

Oh wow, I didn't even think of that (I have been following your posts and hope you are all better very soon ). But I guess E.Coli could still be a possibility. Do you still have the spinach package? Is there a # to call. How about contacting the FDA? OMG...scary!!! Can this be detected with a blood test? I can't believe you can't get in touch with your DH.
I hope you are all well, VERY SOON!!!

I spoke with both my general practice doctor and the pediatrician who just c alled back and they said the odds of it being e coli are very slim, they both said that it's most likely a stomach virus.
I just had my nieces boyfriend drop off some bottles of water, because to make things worse the tap water looked brown today so I haven't drank any all day and I am out of bottled water. So I am going to try and drink as much of that as possible to rehydrate myself.
I hope DH comes home soon. It's driving me crazy to not know how he is or what is going on. Every time I call the hospital they just say that they are waiting for test results.

I wouldn't drink water at this point. If it is a stomach virus you stomach needs to be empty otherwise you will start to feel bad again.
Try to have only a few teaspoons of fluid at a time, maybe every 10-15 mins. If you are feeling better (or not worse) after about an hour you can increase it slightly.
It would also do good to get glucose in you so maybe suck on a lollypop or sucking candy and you should start to feel better.
