yes they have them at NCC actually and hofstra i beleive
they also have wine tasting classes

i dont know anything about it cabernet, merlot, it all jibberish to me. And learning which ones i would perfer

You can actually learn a lot online, too.....
the types of wine, proper ways to drink it...meaning, most people hold the glass by the globe, which is technically wrong, though I would never correct anyone...I'm not obnoxious! But the right way is to hold by the stem. Your hand on the actual glass warms the wine, and can alter its temp.

The Viking Cooking School in Garden City has introductory courses - they'll introduce you to different wines, the proper glasses, how to taste it, how to recognize the different flavors, etc.
