Is this a bad time to book a cruise?

DH and I have been wanting to book a cruise but decided to POSSIBLY hold back because of all the swine flu concerns. Illnesses travel like CRAZY on cruises because of all the 'closeness'. I heard that if there is a suspected swine flu case on a cruise ship, the will quarantine you!


What do you ladies think?

Crusing is still the best value for the money right now, and when you consider the number of cruises that depart each week, the number of health-related issues is very low.

That being said, the scenario you pose is certainly possible. If a passenger is diagnosed with an illness that poses a health risk to the rest of the passengers and crew, they can be quarrantined. The risk is slight, but it is possible.

If you are looking to book a cruise for travel this summer, the prices are generally higher, however you can get some decent last-minute deals on sailings that are not meeting sales goals.

Now is also a perfect time to book for this winter and spring of 2010, as cruise lines are analyzing advanced sales and cutting prices to boost bookings.

I would book now if you find a good price! Don;t worry about the swine flu....there are tons of cruises that depart each day, and we don;t hear of them all being sick, etc.

Be sure to take out travel insurance though, in case there is a reason you cannot go, or if you get sick on there...

Beware of the Carribean in the fall - it's hurricane season.

If you want to go this summer, I would just use precautions, like you should really do travelling anywhere right now - bring some hand santizer, wipes, etc.

i would book it!!! cant run your life around 'what ifs' and besides. you already had the oink flu.
