is this a good price for Hawaii??
i just got a quote from Liberty travel for a trip to hawaii this july. 5 nights on the big island, 5 nights on kauai.... we'd be staying at resortquest properties on both islands, including airfare and rental car.... $4636 total. does that sound good for 5 nights?? i think it does, but just wanted to check with those who have been there.

i don't know anything about that hotel group so i can't say for sure, but if it helps any, i think my HM was in the low $6Ks and here's what we got:
4 nights Kauai 5 nights maui car rental on both islands all air, including inter-island flights bfast daily both stays were at hyatts
HTH! Also, keep in mind that you will be spending a lot in Hawaii.

Re: is this a good price for Hawaii??
thanks! that does help! and i've heard its expensive there... we're budgeting like an extra $2000 for food and anything we want to do ( which i think mostly we'll just be driving around sightseeing on our own)... does that sound about right??

awesome! i know the hotels aren't the "top end" hotels... but they got excellent reviews on tripadvisor, and on expedia where people can rate hotels... so i'm sure they will be nice enough to meet what we want. i'd rather spend a little less on the hotel and have more money for sightseeing, etc while we're there. LOL now we just have to book it- DH won't let me book it today because hes like " you don't want the snow to have you make too quick of a decision to spend lots of money to go to a tropical island" LOL but i'm thinkin its gonna work out

So you're staying 10 nights total? That's a very good price.

yup... 10 nights total. they're not the top end hotels, but the reviews are good and we're looking to do mostly sightseeing anyway, so we won't be at the hotel much. i think we're gonna do it!

Re: is this a good price for Hawaii??
I stayed at the Resortquest in Kauai for my honeymoon. it was fabulous!!!
we stayed at the Hyatt in Maui so we had the best of both worlds - i enjoyed them both.
and that is a fabulous price. we did 11 nights (in the summer) and it was a little over $6K

Re: is this a good price for Hawaii??
It depends if you budget yourself or if you go crazy once you get there. You're basically leaving yourself $350 a day for spending. At first glance it seems like enough, but it may not be. You are going to have to pay for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as rental cars, excursions, souvenires, etc... It can all add up quickly. I would suggest having a game plan before you go. Cut corners where you can, and then splurge on the things you really want to do.

Re: is this a good price for Hawaii??
i read this wrong! i thought you were quoted that price for 5 nights. for 10 that's amazing!!!!
we probably ended up spending on average $200 a day, but our bfast was included in our rate. excursions get really expensive but we tried to offset the excursion days with cheaper meals.
to save some $$$, go to a timeshare presentation. it'll take an hour of your time and you'll get some freeby or super cheap excursion out of it.
