Is this a good price for this Dining Room Set?
The price for the table, six chairs and china cabinet is $5900 plus tax (this is the sale price). It is from Thomasville (but the set is Fredericksburg). I haven't looked around much for dining room sets so I have no idea what is a good price and I don't want to pay more than I should. TIA so much!

Re: Is this a good price for this Dining Room Set?
I would say no but thats just based on my opinion- sounds like too much for a dining set.
We only bought a table and 8 chairs with a more casual style on discount for around $1000

it's all relative. i would say that price is on the higher end, but then again, youre paying for higher end furniture.

Re: Is this a good price for this Dining Room Set?
my SIL bought a Thomasville set about 2 years ago, I think it was about $4500 and it's a similar set to yours, I believe they got it when Thomasville was having a sale. it's a little pricey but I will say my SIL's set is beautiful and definitely good quality! We paid $3K for our set through Direct Buy, but its made from Liberty Furniture and definitely not as high quality as my SIL's set. maybe you can wait for a sale? or google and see if you can find it any place discounted? good luck!

Re: Is this a good price for this Dining Room Set?
it really depends. it's hard to say what is a good price if you don't say what the set is made from. if it's a solid wood piece- oak, maple, cherry... not MDF, not beech, and not veneer with flake core- you are paying a fair price.
A solid wood table should run you at least $1500.
GOOD quality- solid wood chairs- birch or oak will cost you around $250 /each.
as for a dining set- depends on size, but again from $1200 on up.

Re: Is this a good price for this Dining Room Set?
We paid about $3k for ours, a table, 6 chairs and a china closet. This was at Seamans before they went out of business. Thomasville is very high end so that would explain the $$ price.

Re: Is this a good price for this Dining Room Set?
We looked into Thomasville, I found one I liked, it was like $1000 per chair, so expensive!
I bought a Broyhill set from FurnitureLandSouth for between $3000-4000. I would not recommend FLS, but I like the set a lot, it's called Maison Lenoir. I was able to get 8 chairs, the table with two leaves, the china cabinet, and the sideboard for that price.

Re: Is this a good price for this Dining Room Set?
No I don't think that is bad for a very good set that you will keep for a long time. But I think you might be able to do better on the price. My parents go shopping and pick out sets or other pieces then the call a couple of places in North Carolina and get quotes - they got a gorgeous dining room $7k set for $5k - you should call down there they do sell Thomasville things - I think they use Boyles and a few other places. You will need the brand and other info to give them when you call.

Funny.. I was just looking at this set also but hadn't priced it out yet. For Thomasville, I don't think it is a bad price.

Re: Is this a good price for this Dining Room Set?
Those chairs are beautiful - I love the entire set. The charis are probably what is bringing the cost up.
Is it a high price? Thomasville is pricey but its worth the money IMO especially if you look at it as a one time purchase. I would shop it and call down south. I have purchased Drexel pieces from Furnitureland South and saved substantially. I hear Thomasville is a little harder to get down there but its worth a try.

Re: Is this a good price for this Dining Room Set?
YES!! I have a Thomasville set (just the table and 6 chairs) and paid around 6k, 5 years ago So you are getting a great deal!!!! BTW Thomasville is heirloom quality furniture so you pay alot for it but it's very much worth it.

Thanks everyone. i am going to try to call NC and also see if they have better sales coming up (they hinted that the mid-end of DEC. and Jan are the best sales.

Yes, for Thomasville it's a good price - I paid $8k for my Ethan Allen DR set
My Mom's DR is Thomasville and she's had it for 33 years - it still looks brand new.
