Is this headline for real?
Do people in New York actually think that a tie score is a win?? My husband showed me this tonight and I am just about it.
I thought the clever headline was going to be something about BP and the oil spill, they missed a (bad taste) trick with that one!!!

Re: Is this headline for real?
Yes, it's a real headline.
It's tongue-in-cheek. Nobody expected the US to beat England, so by us not losing, many people consider it a "win". Just as I'm sure most English consider a tie with the US as a loss, even though they technically didn't lose.

Re: Is this headline for real?
I think the tie is considered a "win" b/c the US was such an underdog and anything other than a loss was a win if that makes sense.
ETA: I sort of considered the tie a "win"!

bingo. and after seeing some of the UK paper headlines about how their goalie ruined it for them, this one is nothing.
