Is this like an allergy thing??
All of a sudden, it will feel like you are choking or have something caught in the back of your throat, so you will hack and cough and it's just phlegm - nothing actually there, KWIM?
I find this so annoying and it always scares me. I hate that sensation.
Any remedies or tricks? I assume this is allergies?

if its seasonal its most likely an allergy....
i have the same cr@p.... mine is normally all year round. due to a post nasal drip.. yup disgusting.
i have found that Mucinex-D works for me.. i just hate taking it every day....

I have the same thing, although it is always worse this time of year. I do take an Alavert, usually every day during allergy season. Sometimes that dries me out too much  ,

Given that your PG, try a neti pot to wash the grossness out of your sinuses so it doesn't travel down the back of your throat.

+1.... this def works...
you do have to do it a few times a week. and it can feel VERY strange the first few times... use warm (as close to body temp as possible) water!!

ugh... welcome to post nasal drip. I am going crazy with that right now. The neti pot helps (i do it in the morning and at nigtht) and sleep with 2 pillows so you are partially on a slant.... its help with the drip while you are sleeping!
