Is this normal - first weeks q.
DS will be 2 wks on Wed. Since he has been home I have noticed he occ does this thing with his eyes that makes me nervous. When he is in a sleepy state sometimes he will half open his eyelids and it looks as if his eyes are rolling back behind his head or to the side. He either closes his eyes after or opens wider and focuses. Is this normal? Its scary when he does it and I haven't mentioned it to the ped yet but will at our next appt. Its not often and only when he is in the sleepy state.

My DD is almost 3 weeks and does the same thing. I notice that right when she is falling asleep, she will start to breath heavy, smile a bit, then open her eyes slightly and her eyes do roll back.

Re: Is this normal - first weeks q.
My DD use to do that in the early weeks as well. When I asked the Ped about the rolling of the eyes, he stated that babies eye muscle reflexes are still underdeveloped at that age and babies do not know how to keep their eyes steady all the time. So it is totally normal.
Also, the breathing noises are also normal. Make sure their nasal passages are clear bc babies dont know how to breathe through their mouth yet. So if they have a 'buggie" in their nose, the breathing can sound a little hard sometimes.
