Is this normal?

I got a pedicure a week ago from last friday (so figure like 10 days ago). The lady cut my toe pretty bad (basically clipped my toe with the nail clipper instead of my nail... started bleeding a whole lot... really long story)

I went to the dermatologist and he prescribed an antibiotic ointment- suggested it could be a little staph...

Well, it seems to have healed a lot in appearance but its still very tender when I touch it, and this is after 10 days. Is that still normal for it to still hurt me (only when it's touched/watched/etc.) after 10 days?! I should add that it was kinda deep when she cut me Chat Icon Needless to say, I am never going back there.

So, does that seem normal? TIA!

Re: Is this normal?

yeah. i seem to get this ingrown cuticle / nail thing on my big toe and the pedi lady never seems able to get it. So i have sit there myself and clip the nail, push the cuticle back to get the ingrown cuticle. most times i wind up cutting myself and its a few days before its not sore again.

so i would imagine if she cut you pretty deep with a nail clipper, it will be sore for a while. Its also a mighty sensitive spot too that you're always putting weight on all day long.

ETA: just watch it closely and make sure it doesnt turn colors under the nail.

As much as I love how my toes look after they do them, I think I have to stop getting pedicures.
I ended up with ANOTHER fungus and I'm just done.
I swear they are butchers!
It's not worth it anymore!

My podiatrist said that the worst thing someone can do for their feet is go to get a pedicure.

They cut the nails to be 'pretty'; not to be formed properly and not cause pain/damage.

This is true too. I can't tell you how many times my toenails have gotten ingrown from the way they cut them for pedicures...

Re: Is this normal?

I don't go anymore either. You can get bad infections from pedicures. Once they cut my toe and it freaked me out. ANother time they pushed back the cuticle too far and I got an infection by my toenail. I almost had to get the nail removed. So I learned my lesson then. I don't mess with my cuticles, don't cut them or push them back. I just leave them alone. And I don't get pedicures. Most of those women have no real medical training and the things they do aren't good for our health.l
