Is this typical of a 1 or 2 year check-up?
Abby had her 1 year check-up last week. The doctor gave me a prescription for bloodwork at the lab. I also had to get one for Kate as well, because I totally procrastinated and never got her bloodwork done (hello, 2.75 years old!)!
My DH took Kate yesterday and she got her blood drawn. The tech. also noted that a urine test was also on the script. She's still in diapers, so he gave DH a "kit" to take home. Evidently you tape something to her body to collect the urine.  Anyhow, when I looked at Abby's prescription, it was identical--CBC, lead screen, and urine.
Did you guys have to do this too?
PS...Oh, and also, the blood is drawn from their arms at the lab. I remember getting blood via finger prick as a child...what's standard for your doctors?

Hi Erin,
They did these tests at her 1 year appt in the office. They drew blood from the finger and used some kind of tape for the diaper. 
They were able to give me the results right then and there too

yep both my dc had blood taken at their one and two year checkups. it was from the arm. when i was little it was never ever like that either, always from my finger. as for the urine. my doctor never took a sample untill they were potty trained.

At her 1 year she had a finger prick for blood...
Recently at her 2 year she had blood again (finger prick) and urine sample... Yup, I had to put this bag thing on her vag in her diaper

Yup, at 1 we also did the blood drawn from the arm. We didn't get anything about urine though.

Michael had blood work at my ped's office during his 1 year checkup. They took it from the arm. They did not do a urine sample.
