Is wine an appropriate gift for a 60th Bday gift?
If its a really nice bottle of wine?
We are going to my Brother's FIL's 60th Bday party this weekend- and have NO idea what to get him. I was thinking a really nice bottle of wine or a GC to a restaurant.

my parents are turning 60 this year and have been going to party after party for their friends. So far they have bought GC's to a restaurants the person likes, a Tommy Bahama shirt (guy), a nail salon GC (girl), a wine basket, a DVD collection of movie classics from their HS era days (around 1966 I think is when they graduated).

wine is an appropriate gift at any age.
though for a "special" bday, I'd get a better wine. no Turning Leaf or Ecco Domani....

Here's the thing...to me it doesn't matter how much it costs it depends on the taste for me...I would find out if he likes wine and what he likes to drink....IE: my husband LOVES big red itallian wines so Brunello is ALWAYS a GREAT gift..I like cold sweet reds and that's it an occasional Pinot but it's hit or miss.....I would try to get more info, and if you can't then a gc for dinner would be great or if he golfs you could get him a golfing gift. If he likes to read what about a good book and as a bookmark you could put a gc inside to Barnes and Nobles or where ever you gho. Hope that helps

i think it is a great gift and very appropriate for your brother's FIL. i might opt for something more personal if it was your or DHs parents.
