Is your central air/heat well distributed throughout your home?

We bought our house last year and we have had the HVAC people to our house 3x and the temperature in our home is still not distributed properly.

Our master bedroom used to get the bulk of the air/heat. We keep having the HVAC people come back and they just redistribute but never well balanced.

Right now, our boys' bedrooms are perfect temperature but our master bedroom is always off. However, our toilet room and laundry room are steaming hot from heat or freezing with air.

How well distributed is your air/heat?

My bedroom is always a little warmer than the rest of the house, but I like it that way. It's easier to get out of bed.

Our room and our nursery are always cooler in the winter, and warmer in the summer than the rest of the house.

It really doesnt bother us though bc, I just pile on an extra blanket and DS2 and DH both prefer it cooler. In the summer its only a degree or 2 off from the rest unless its a Super hot day and then it can be 3 or 4 degrees off. Not really enough to cause any issues for us!

Every area is a different temperature. Very annoying, but it's something we live with.

If the doors are open, all of the rooms are very close in temp. If a door is closed, then that will of course affect the temperature.

We have vaulted ceilings, which make our main living area awful at maintaining the same temperature as the other areas - hence we got a wood stove last year to even things out.

It doesn't bother DH at all but I am highly sensitive to temperature. DH says it is probably 3-5 degrees different and no big deal. To me, it is a huge deal.

DH actually stubbed his toe trying to play with the dampers about a month ago. He went to the ER and everything. Sigh.

I don't know if it is worth calling the HVAC guys again. whenever they come, they make it seem like everything is fixed but it never is. Our boy's rooms were freezing cold last winter. I would rather them be warm than us but it would be nice if we could all be comfortable.

It's really got to do with how far the heat or cool air has to travel, so those on the end of the duct-line won't get as much as those that are on the beginning of the line. We replaced our furnace, which runs both the heat and CAC and found it much better with the more efficient furnace. closing the dampers on the early lines will help the heat or cool air travel to the end of the line.

I believe the main line starts from our master bedroom. For the longest time, our master was getting much more air than the rest of the floor. (the upstairs has a separate thermostat than the downstairs) Last yr, the boys' rooms didn't seem like they were getting any heat at all. The guest room was freezing. I'm fairly certain the HVAC guy closed the vents(?) in our master bedroom. DH swears air is coming out but it barely comes out.

I stopped complaining about since DH stubbed his toe in the attic last month but it just doesn't seem right. I feel like it can be improved. I could care less if our laundry room is warm or not but I do want to sleep in a warm room. If I make our bedroom warm, the boys will be sweating in their rooms.

We also have the Nest but I don't think that has anything to do with the poor distribution of air and heat in our house.

A couple of things come to mind. How is the circulation in your home? A whole house vornado fan might distribute the air flow better. The other thing is that you might need multiple zones, and two hvac units depending upon the size of your home.

One side of the apartment is cooler than the other. This side receives less sun. I think that's just the way it is.

With forced hot air you will always have cold and warm spots.

This is part of our problem as well. We rent so there is not much we can do. It also doesn't help we are on the top floor and there is no attic fan so that heat just finds its way into my apartment.vwe got a window ad unit to help out a bit.
