Is your job a career?

My job (and every single job I've had since college) is on the path that I want for myself. I have no idea if down the road I will want something else, of course, but I'm in a very good position for someone my age and there's plenty of potential to be come very successful (both professionally and financially) if I play my cards right.

How about you?

I've been working in the field for 7 years now and completing my doctorate in the area in which I work, so yes. Sometimes I question the path I have chosen, but it is definitely a career and not a job. I work in college administration.

I question how I will make my job work if/when I have kids, but I think I would question that regardless of my career.

Yes. I finally found something I really enjoy doing... now if only I could make some more money doing it.

ummm, can you add an option for "my job is a carrer, and its the one I thought I wanted, but now I know better and have no idea what I want"?

I have a great career....I just don't think it is the one for me.

Yes, my job is a career -- an excellent career at that -- but I'm not entirely sure it's the career path I'll follow forever. It's great for now, and I'm getting tons of experience... but somewhere down the line, I may not want to practice law anymore.

I like my job and am now going for my masters so yes, it is a career. I always considered nursing and ultrasound tech. as something I may want to do, because those are jobs I will always be able to find wherever I live and can do p/t work. My job is very specialized and I don't know of any places that hire p/t (for when I have a bunch of kids) so it could be harder for me to continue with this in the future. We will see. For now, I am sticking with it.

I always tell everyone that I don't know what I want to be when I grow up. But I really am doing it.

yes, I decided what I wanted to do in college and have been on the same path since...you got to be a certain crazy azz to be in my industry with the wonky hours and overbearing workload.

mine is a great, secure career with an excellent salary, but i don't know if i'll do it forever

Yes, my job is a career. I am an attorney and I actually decided to go to law school on a "whim" - not something I recommend other people doing

However, it has worked out for me and I am happy with my decision to go to law school. Unfortunately, it is a very demanding career that requires a tremendous amount of time.

Yes....my job is a career and it is always what I have wanted to do since I am a teenager!!!

I work for a busy place (my bosses own 3 places)........but I am paid well. I know there are people out there who have been doing what I do for 30 years + and I make more $$$$ then they do because my bosses pay well!!

I think this is also a job I can do part time when the time is right & we have children ........I only hope my bosses will be agreeable to that!

My last job was just a job, that's why I am not going back to work and being a SAHM. I think if it was a career, where I was successful and would be stupid for leaving, I would have gone back to work. The job itself was not worth it for me.

Yes, Xray Tech is my job, it is my career, I love it, pay is excellent even for part time, and especially for only 2 years of school and only paying $7 grand for those 2 years. Cant beat it in my eyes...
