Isn't it weird that my insurance covers unlimited IUIs and IVFs 100%, but the meds aren't covered?
I know I am really lucky that my insurance covers the procedures, but I just found out that my Follistim shot will cost $559 and the Ovidrel is $106 . OY....and I'm not even Jewish!!

How big a vial is the Follistim. I've paid almost $750 for a 975 cartridge and somtimes I needed almost three of those per cycle AND pay for the IUI's OOP on top of that.
I know. It suxs royally, doesn't it.

I hear that a lot. Some companies cover the procedures and meds up to a certain limit and certain cover one or the other. Some cover nothing.
I know my meds cost about $8K a pop and I have $15K lifetime for meds and $15K lifetime for infertility and that includes IVF and IUI and anthing else that's coded as infertility.
That translates into two IVF cycles for me with minimal out of pocket.
After two, it's all up to me.
Hey good luck!

Holy C rap! Thanks Guys!
I think the Follistim is a little over 600 units. Sandra said I would have some left over.

Yeah, it stinks. For me iuis were covered but the meds weren't -well some were - clomid and follistim. Then ovidrel and prometrium weren't. ivf wasn't covered at all.

Check out Eckerd's precription discount plan. Also Walmart has teh cheapest scrips. Most traditional pharmacies can order fertility meds they just need a day or two notice

Really? I didn't know I could go to Walmart to get the scripts. I think I"ll try them if I have to.
