I still don't get it though.
They are talking mostly about Cats... So what happened to the dogs? And they don't know how the chemical could have poisoned pets?

Re: It wasn't rat poison in the recalled pet food
My mom's dog ate the contaminated food. She got extremely sick and had to be rushed to the vet. She almost died. thank god she didnt.... My mom called the Department of Health or something like that and they are coming out to test the rest of the dogfood she bought at the same time.
I should add, my mother's dog is very small, smaller than many cats!

Why can't they find the problem. It reminds me of the Taco Bell thing, it was the scallions, no the lettuce, no it was the dog!

Re: It wasn't rat poison in the recalled pet food
this is so frustrating and upsetting for pet owners... Even though Boogie's food was not on the recall list- I am still so scared to give it to him- you just never know

Re: It wasn't rat poison in the recalled pet food
This is just horrible that people are so scared to feed their pets any prepared foods in fear that it will kill/harm their pet. They need to stop the d!cking around & get some real testing done & get some conclusive answers.

Re: It wasn't rat poison in the recalled pet food
The whole thing is horrible...and they don't even really know what it is. The FDA says Melamime and the NYS Dept. of Health says it rat poison?
Maybe they should do some autopsies and see what the poor animals died of instead of speculating!!
This whole thing is a travesty....

Re: It wasn't rat poison in the recalled pet food
They've now recalled Alpo Prime Cuts in Gravy. I just fed this to my three dogs this past week, but, I used the stew recipe. So far, they are fine. I am done with dog food and will start making my own food for them. I heard this broadcast on Channel 4 World News at 6:30 today. It seems no dog food is safe and if you check the website, Alpo isn't even listed.

A lot of companies are recalling their food just because it's so confusing as to what has been recalled. So there are a few companies that are pulling their product just to make it easier on the consumer - Purina is one of them. This doesn't mean there was anything in the Alpo or Purina, or that any pets got sick...they just want to pull their product until this is resolved.

I have to retract my last statement Apparently, Purina found the contaminant in their Alpo food too
This just keeps getting worse and worse

Re: It wasn't rat poison in the recalled pet food
Now they added a certain variety of Hill's Prescription Diet (DRY FOOD) for cats.
We fed this to our cats for years, but it got too expensive.
First tey swoire up and down it's not in dry food. I don't believe any of it. Our dogs are getting hamburger meat tonight.
