Italian Specialties Gift Basket
So as a gift for my brother in law, I would like to put together an italian basket - I am going to check out the import store in the Chelsea market and possibly ivaronne's on long island, along with reg. grocery store.
Background, both he and Sister in law are italian but neither are really big cooks, per se. They will throw together a pasta but nothing fancy/elaborate. They went to italy in Oct for their honeymoon.
What else can I include? - Imported pasta (buccatini, he loves this) - Good quality olive oil - Good quality balsamic - frozen homemade ravioli/tortellini - Jar of roasted red peppers - Jar or 2 of imported sauce (ideally amatriciana to go with buccatini) - Bottle of Chianti

Are Rainbow Cookies italian enough to include? I miss them so much. Miss Iavarone Bros too! It's one place I really truly miss since I moved out of NY. One summer I even worked across the street from the one in Lake Success / NHP and had the fortune of getting lunch there a few times a week. Fabulous!

My mom does this for her boss every year. He LOVES it! She goes to iavarone Bros and gets dried salami, cheeses, pepperoni, breadsticks, homemade pasta, sauce etc. Both he an his wife look forward to it every year.
