It's official!
So, girls, my doctor has officially released me to seek an RE. He referred me to Dr. San Marco?? in Stonybrook/Mineola. Who do you guys think I should see. I'd like someone near where I live in Selden, someone with their own lab and someone with an OB in their practice that I can get sent to once I do get pregnant (and I will!!). Any recommendations? I don't trust my doctor a bit, if any of you have been following my story.
Thanks!

Re: It's official!
OK..so the ball is rolling.
I used the clinic where Dr. San Roman works in Mineola. I actually liked Dr. San Roman but HATED the clinic. You really see all the drs and its just a mess of a place. BUT I have heard the stony brook office is run a little better, so it might be ok for you there. One thing I didnt like though was you see a sono tech for sonos and then sometimes a nurse .....But you SHOULD be seeing a DR....
As far as having an OB there, I dont think any of the clinics have that?
At North SHore University Hosp. Where I go..I sometimes See My Dr. At Huntington Hosp. And they have a womens center ( OB's) which is where I will be released too. But That might be far for you.
Most of the RE's are out in Nassau and in NYC unfortunatly.
Maybe some of the other girls can help with some more suffolk locations?
GOOD LUCK!

Re: It's official!
IMO, location should not be a priority when selecting an RE. I think many of us have BTDT, and have been sorry in the end...

Re: It's official!
My OB recommended Dr. San Roman too. He is supposedly very good but his next appt was months away and truth is at that clinic you hardly ever see the same doctor if you see one at all. I do not recommend RSofNY because of the organization of the office. I spent too many days there wating 4 hours for a 2 minute procedure-only to ultimately be told they recommend you take a 1/2 day off work. Not acceptable to me.

Re: It's official!
LIIVF in Port Jefferson is great..the office is wonderful, everyone there is truly genuine and there stats are very high...
my dr. is dr. kenigsberg and can't say enough about how great he is..
lots of luck to you and
edited to say, they send you right next door to Mather for bloodwork and I personally don't know any RE office that has an OBGYN as part of the group
we also met with dr. cohen at north shore but felt it was just way too far to drive for each visit..

Re: It's official!
Okay, so when I'd done some research, I found these ppl:
http://www.stonybrookhospital.com/fertilityresults/repro.html
I had arranged an appointment with them before my doctor actually "released" me. I had read a lot about Dr. Lydic. I saw on the babycenter message board the alot of ppl actually liked him a lot. They have an OB on staff that they pass you to and they are on staff at Stony Brook University Hospital. Since I had a child who had a heart problem, once I do get pregnant I need to see an MFM. Do you guys think it might be worth a shot? I like that they are local, even though I know location shouldn't be important. I am willing to go to Manhasset (I work in Hicksville) if necessary but I was hoping that someone would tell me it's okay to go to Lydic!
Hey, I'm still banking on being pregnant this month. I *think* I'm 5 days DPO so, let's hope for a BFP and I won't have to worry about any of this crap!

Re: It's official!
lauren, I was in the middle of going to rsony (stonybrook ) office and i saw alot of negative posts on here about it. Alot of them (posts) referred to mineola office. I have to say...I have never waited any longer then 20 mins for a appt. ALL my questions were answered, I became friends with the nurses, one doll nurse came to my house oh her days off for my progesterone shots! I had a great experience and was fortunate to get pregnant on my first round Of IVF> DR. San roman is excellent and from what I understand, he is upfront honest, if he does not think he can get you pregnant he says it flat out. He is great-Dr. Stelling is great too. I had my retrieval and transfer in mineola and didn't have one problem there either. I saw no problems in the office front or anything. I have been told its patients that go there for everything have had issues with waiting and bla bla..I have not. I can only say I guess is You can't please everyone and maybe that is what the case was sometimes, or maybe there were emergency situations or just things didn't work out. I can tell you...where I live---its a small town and 1./2 the stonybrook docs like by me and they come highly recommended. They would have to...for me too do any of that and have to look at them in the eye at a little league game! good luck! in whatever you choose to do. take care

Re: It's official!
Thank you everyone, you guys are the best.
I made an appointment with Dr. Kenigsberg but it's not until October 4th! I feel like I'll lose it if I have to wait that long!
