It's official (bottles)
I threw the last of the bottles in our home away Lucas is officially off bottles. I looked at the counter this morning where they usually sit and it's empty...I actually have counter space again.
My big boy is getting too big too fast.

I have to give Lucas all the credit...he was pretty good about it although he did have a little attitude in the beginning and was not happy.
Overtime I just started cutting bottles during the day...I also made sure to keep his juice (which he had no problem drinking from a sippy) in a particular cup (had several) so that he associated the juice with that cup. Then when it was only the first and last bottle left...I took away the am bottle. I put his milk (at this point he was on whole milk) in a sippy different from the juice (different in color only). He actually threw the sippy cup across the room. Within a few days though he came to accept that this was the only way he was getting it and gave in.
I was really nervous about the nighttime bottle. He would get so happy when it got into his little hands and I was sure it was going to be torture so DH and I agreed to do it for the 4th of July weekend since we'd have time to deal with sleep problems or whatever. But last weekend we had so much going on that we were getting home late...Lucas had a sippy of milk before getting in the car and fell asleep so he was transferred to the crib without a bottle. Sunday were home but I figured why go back if he went to bed two nights in a row without it. To our surprise he was okay with it.
So that's it...I decided to throw them out just in case we got weak. I owe that good idea to Dawn (lvdolphins) who gave me a bunch of great advice at the last gtg.

Re: It's official (bottles)
Yay for you guys
I can't even think about this without getting upset.
He also throws his sippy cup of milk away. He is used to it being water. Great tip on giving him a different cup. Thanks!
Dh is convinced he won't like milk. I think the kid will drink anything that comes out of the bottle.
But I love giving him his night time bottle...it's the only alone time we get.
And he cries for it. He loves his baba.

Thanks for the advice. I think the last bottle of the night will eb the toughest for both him & me. Its such a special time of the day for us.
