IUD Question - TMI

I got my IUD in January - and proceeded to bleed for what seemed like an entire month. Had the IUD cheked out in mid-February and the dr said all looked good and the constant bleeding was my bodies reaction to the IUD and eventually it would stabilize. Okay, so the bleeding stopped in late Feb but I still haven't gotten my period. I did feel period-like symptoms (acne, crampy, etc) but never actually had any bleeding. has this happened to anyone else??

Which type of IUD did you have put in?

I have the Mirena (which has a very low dose of hormones) and my periods have stopped all together--which is normal for some woman.

Same here. I have the Mirena. I lightly bled for one month and then my body adjusted. I had a few periods after that, they were like 3 days long and hardly there. Then they stopped all together. I love it! Some people I know only get a period every few months with the Mirena, its really nothing to worry about.

It takes a few months to regulate and for your body to react to it. Some people, like other posters said, don't get a heavy period (if one at all).

I didn't get periods with my IUD. Do you have the Mirena because that is a common side effect, no periods.
