IUI - sono this week - another suggested for next week???
Good Morning Everyone :)
I am starting my first round of IUI this month (unmedicated). I had my sono yesterday at CD 11, but the doctor didn't see anything (follicles??). I explained that this wasn't abnormal for me - I have been using the CBE OPK for a few months now and usually ovulate for 2 days, around day 19-21. The doc said he wanted me to come back for another sono next week if there was no surge this weekend, which he didn't think would happen by this weekend given the sono results.
Here's my question to all of you ladies that have been through this - is the second sono really necessary? I know that I ovulate each month as evidenced by the CBE monitor and the fact that I then get AF 11-12 days after the second ovu day.
Obviously I want to do what is necessary, but given that this our first round and I have never had any ovu problems, does the second sono seem like overkill?
I would definitely appreciate any thoughts anyone has!!! TIA

If you are starting to see an RE get used to lots and lots of sonos!!
I was on injectables but I had at least 6 during my IUI cycle.
He might want to see the size of the follies.

Thanks! I am totally committed and obviously want to do what is best. Would they not be able to see the size of the follicles when I went in for the actual IUI? Are larger follicles more promising??

They need to be able to see what your body is doing through the cycle with BW and sono, and then they compare from month to month. If they don't see the follies are ready they probably won't do the IUI. I would follow their protocol.
Good luck

The follicles have to be a certain size to be mature enough to be fertilized. They would be able to see them the day of the IUI, but if they are not big enough they will not do it. So going before makes sure you are on track. they can push the IUI up or back depending on how they look.
And as the PP said, they want to follow your cycle so they have a history of what is going on.
