IUI or medication
What is usually the first plan of treatment for "unexplained" infertility? My RE suggested Clomid, but I'm not sure that want to take medication unless it is really necessary, since I do ovulate on my own. I am also concerned with the increased chance of multiples because I have a uterine malformation which could lead to preterm labor and growth restriction.
Has anyone tried unmedicated IUI as a first step? I'm going to ask the RE about this option at my next appointment.

Re: IUI or medication
I too have "unexplained Infertility" I did a few IUI without medication and a few with, I then moved onto IVF. I would discuss all the options with your RE, good luck

Re: IUI or medication
As far as my RE knows at this point I have unexplained infertility as well. When we first started TTC my OB/GYN recommended Clomid. I went to an RE before taking it and the RE only administered the Clomid for the purposes of the Clomid Challenge test in my situation. There are many women here that use Clomid though. My next step with my RE was IUI with Bravelle. The first attempt failed and I developed cysts. I am now on BCP for 3 weeks in order to have the cycles resolve themselves. Once they are gone we will try our 2nd IUI. Good Luck!

Re: IUI or medication
I am doing unmedicated IUIs because of a cervical issue. I ovulate like clockwork and when I mentioned medication, I was told that it was not necessary for me. The RE could not really justify giving me medication at this point. Everyone is different though.

Re: IUI or medication
I ovulate on my own as well but have an issue with low progesterone and pregnancy loss. The clomid def. helped with that. Has your DH's sperm been tested-that would be my first step in your shoes along with CD 3 tests(LH, FSH)

Thanks for all the advice.
Yes, I have had all the standard tests done and they all turned out normal.

Re: IUI or medication
They may start you on unmedicated IUIs first since everything is normal with your hormone levels. Good Luck!
