IUI protocol

What was your IUI protocol and was it successful? I did injectables when DD was conceived 2.5 yrs ago and we've been trying for over a yr for #2. Due to a previous ectopic and risk of multiples my RE does not want to do injectables now. I've been on Femara & then trigger before back to back IUIs.

Re: IUI protocol

I have PCOS and I don't ovulate on my own.

The IUI protocol that worked for me was femara (days 3-7) and follistim (days 8-11), trigger shot (day 12 am) and back to back IUIs (days 13-14 am).

On femara alone I was producing 1 follicle very slowly (my 1st iui cycle was over 60 days long) and didn't work.

When I added the follistim (lowest dose) I only had 2 mature follicles, 1 on each side.

Good Luck to you!

Pregnancy 1:

IUI 1- Clomid - 1 follie - BFN
IUI 2- Clomid - 1 follie - BFN
IUI 3 - Injectables - 3 follies - BFP - Chat Icon

Pregnancy 2
IUI 1 - natural w trigger (was waiting on insurance approval for meds) - 1 follie - BFN
IUI 2 - Injectables - 2 follies - BFP - Chat Icon

I believe that injectables gave me a better stim.

As for b2b IUIs, there's no proof that it's more beneficial than 1 well-timed IUI.

Re: IUI protocol

I only ask because I was about to start an IVF cycle but chickened out for several reasons and decided to do a couple more IUI cycles before moving on. IUI was successful for me 3 yrs ago when my DD was conceived but we used injectables. Maybe my RE will change the protocol next cycle.

Re: IUI protocol

DS 1-
Try 1- natural IUI -bfn
Try 2- Clomid IUI-BFP, miscarried at 10 weeks
Try 3- Clomid IUI- BFP, my 4 year old

Trying for number two
Try 1-Clomid 50 IUI- BFN
Try 2-Clomid 100 IUI-BFN
Try 3- follistim 150 I think and trigger shot IUI- BFN
Try 4- follistim 300 and trigger shot IUI-BFN
Try 5- currently doing IVF. The process, the shots, is really not a big deal. Though I'm not getting as many follicles as I want.
Good luck!
