I've lost my mojo....help me make a steak!
Well, the worst has finally happened, I have lost my mojo. I am a big BBQ'er and suddently the bottom has rotted out of my big BBQ...we only had it two years, but it was kept outside and even though the outside looked pristine, the inside was a piece of RUBBISH.
Anyway, I used to BBQ something twice a week at least...steak on a Saturday night was the highlight of our week. But now, no BBQ, no steaky.
I have no idea how to cook a steak any other way! How else can I cook a steak without making my whole house smell beefy!!
Any help would be appreciated!!

You can cook steak in a pan. I actually like it better this way. I really like this recipe:
http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Rib-Eye-Steaks-in-Red-Wine-Sauce-240589
I add mushrooms and shallots to it. And depending on the thickness I cook it for less or more than 4 min. I think I usually do 3-4 minutes per side. I think I also added some corn flour (I know, but I was impatient) to thicken it up.
I personally like the ribeye (is it called Scotch Fillet over there? It was in Australia) for sauteeing.
You could also make a nice mushroom cream sauce with it. However I can't find my recipe for this, sorry

Grill pan on the stove... although it can get smokey if you don't have a good vent fan.
Sear it off in a pan! Even better with some onions in it!
Broiler pan in the oven

Re: I've lost my mojo....help me make a steak!
i can offer no help, not a steak cooking kind of girl... SO does that
i just wanted to say that the title of this thread made me laugh
"mojo" is pronouced "mo-ho" in spanish and it's a type of marinade... so i was really thrown off by the whole things... might not be funny to others, but it made me giggle

We make it in a pan, latin style... a little adobo, garlic powder and sason accent from the envelopes. A bit of olive oil in pan, cook on both sides, voila. We just had this for dinner last night with some white rice and veggies - DELISH!

pan sear in a cast iron pan or bake/broil in the oven.
salt & pepper..really not much else unless you use some crushed garlic and a pat of butter when it's just about done.

salt and pepper only, and broil it on high.
