I've never booked a "foreign" trip without an agent?
How do you book your airfare, hotel, transfers, and travelers insurance?

Re: I've never booked a "foreign" trip without an agent?
I just booked my first two! But they were pretty straight-forward trips. 1st is round trip flights to Ireland, car rental, trip insurance, no hotels since we'll be staying with family. I booked it on Expedia. The 2nd is an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica- I booked the resort through their website, and the flights through expedia.

We just got back from St. Thomas. Its a USVI so it was easy as pie. Purchased everything independently and it wasn't an issue! Where are you staying?

For Aruba we did flights direct from jet blue and luckily we didn't need a transfer. we did hotel directly through the official website for that hotel. we did not get travelers insurance, i don't believe, but we added on insurance for the flights i think. and we got a cab from the airport to the hotel!

Re: I've never booked a "foreign" trip without an agent?
I researched on Trip Advisor.. asked a ton of questions and recommendations. We booked the hotel through American Express travel. We just went online and booked it no issues there. Then guide, transfers, I emailed a bunch of them directly.. and based on their emails (basic English was important) and recommendations, just "booked" them from here. Our guides met us at the airport and took us places, and back to our hotel.
It was great. We have done a bunch of vacations like that.

The conference is at the Marriott frenchmans reef and morning star. (we want the morning star portion). Any recs?
How did you handle transport from airport to hotel?
We need insurance because with 2 kids we'd hate for last minute sickness or hurricanes.

I heard the Marriott is nice. We stayed at a different hotel but ate at Havana Blu for our anniversary. Expensive, but great.
I would recommend getting a car rental, makes it easier getting around if you are comfortable driving on the other side of the road. But, if you don't want that, there taxis that go everywhere so you can get a taxi as soon as you walk out of the airport (its really small). Your hotel is closer to the airport than mine was (I stayed in Red Hook) so it won't be bad.
I would go into town one day for some good shopping!
If you can get to St John, its a easy ride over and its gorgeous.
Have fun!
