IVF Round 2 & Birth Control Pills
I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this...I started BCP on December 26 for IVF Part 2...I went today and Dr. Cain said to stop taking the BCP unless the office called after my blood. I just got a call and was told to continue the pills through Friday, come in on Friday for more blood. I asked why and was told that they want the bcp to suppress my estrogen more.
Does anyone know why? I should've asked but didn't...

i dont know but wanted to give u you should call and ask to speak to FRAN.
You are so funny.  It's not going to keep me up at night, I was just wondering if anyone knew why. I will wait until Friday when I see Dr. Cain.

If your estrogen is elevated it means your body isn't supressed enough. They want you to be supressed so that when they start the meds they are starting from scratch. The stims make the follicles grow and that increses the estrogen so you want to start from zero. Hopefully you are able to start soon- I ended up on BCP's for a month becuase I had a cyst that was keeping my estrogen high

Exactly...if they don't suppress enough, then you may get a lead follicle which will make the other follies they are trying to grow moot.

I created too much estrogen on the BCPs and started making follies. Dr. Cain had me highest dose of Lupron they could give me and it wasn't enough to squash the follies I started making. My estrogen being too high is exactly why they cancelled my cycle.
I had 6 follies brewing and they needed my ovaries "quiet" before I could start stimming. Otherwise, they said that the 6 follies would have grown and that is all they would have gotten out of me this cycle.
Despite the Lupron my estrogen never went down and they stopped me on Friday. They triggered me to get rid of the follies I had and I am waiting to start up again. I go back on Friday (West Islip).
