IVF Teach at Cornell
I'm going Dec 3. Can anyone tell me what happens? What to expect?
I'm actually happy this is finally happening. I won't cycle for a few more weeks but this is a first step.
Also, how long is this? I have to be there at 8:45.
eta: what is this female sounding that I have to do? Sounds painful!

Re: IVF Teach at Cornell
The sounding is a mock transfer. It wont hurt at all. In fact you probably wont feel anything. But, they map out your uterus so that whom ever is doing your transfer will know how to go. You may be a little weirded out b/c you haven't had as much shoved into your uterus as I have....LOL... but if you just remain calm it will over quick. And it should also help you since you haven't done any IUI's etc... so you will be calmer on transfer day.
I think the class is an hour, then you meet with your IVF nurse to review your IVF calendar and go over any questions you might have. The class will review the entire process and tell you where you go and what you should be doing. At the end they show you how to do the meds, all those fun needles you keep hearing so much about. They should be ordering your meds also. I say go with Freedom Pharmacy. I think you have UHC and they own Oxford and I had no problems with Freedom and thought they were very helpful.
They show how the lab fertilizes the eggs and such on the screen. Its really really amazing.
I just got my confirm letter for series 81. I had forgotten that I e-mailed Penny about a month ago to tell her I was doing it (just in case we decide to go one more round). She never responded and I just didn't do anything else, since I am in confused land. guess she got my e:mail.

Re: IVF Teach at Cornell
thanks for the info Beth. This is very helpful.
DH is coming with but does he have to? I don't want him to feel like he doesn't need to be there although he's in this with me and should know all this fun stuff too.
You're right, I haven't had much shoved in my uterus. Nice visual I got there..

I went alone when I was cycling at Columbia but for Cornell DH came with me and I'm glad he did. I think this helped him understand the whole process more and how overwhelming it is for us to go through this.

Re: IVF Teach at Cornell
I went to the one at RMA with DH and went alone to Cornell's. I think it is good to have him there. They do not research like we do and often don't listen to anything we say, so it will give him some info at least. Plus if your DH helps you with shots it will be very helpful.
Sorry about the visual.
Oh wanted to add - I was the only one there without my partner. So, he wont be alone.

Re: IVF Teach at Cornell
Jaime said that they show you how to do injections.
Cool...DH needs to know this.
