Jack has a cold and threw up last night

I have read about those saline drops to put inside his nose -- what are they exactly and can I get them at BRU?

Als - could he have thrown up because he is so congested? It was weird, all of a sudden a huge bugger was coming out of his nose and as I was getting it he threw up his entire bottle. You can hear when he breathes how congested he is.

It was the saddest thing to see the little man throw up. Chat Icon

He probaby threw up because he is all congested. Saline drops are drops of saline water that you drop into their nose and it helps to lossen the mucus.

Diana the saline drops I use are called Baby AYR Saline drops. They sell them anywhere...I've gotten them at cvs, target, stop and shop etc. I don't think BRU has them though. This is what my ped told me to use.

Ok thanks! I just put the drops in and that's it? Or do I use that scary looking pump thing with it? I can't think of the right word - it's not a syringe....it's that bubble thing. LOL

I usually put the drops in and then use the suction thing to get out as much mucus as I can.

I use the syringe also. I found that DD is more comfortable when I use the syringe and drops together. It hurts less the ped said. You want to use the syringe because the drops will loosen the mucus and the syringe will pull everything out.

Not a syringe..the bulb thingy

Re: Jack has a cold and threw up last night

I hope your little guy feels better soon. My DS is still suffering the affects of his cold since late last week. We got the saline drops from Stop & Shop so I'm pretty sure you'll find them anywhere. DS also threw up a couple of times. The doctor said it was from the mucus going into his stomach. Poor little guys! Hopefully they'll feel better soon! Chat Icon

ETA: When using the suction thing on his nose, try to have him sitting up more. It makes it easier to get everything out IMO.
