January Trip
I want to plan a trip for the family in January but don't know where to go. We went to Disney this past September and we're doing a Disney cruise in October 2014. I thought of doing Disney again in January but that will be overkill for my husband. Any recommendations? I don't want to do Mexico, Bahamas or Jamaica.

Re: January Trip
Are you looking for an all inclusive resort? If not, we love St. John or the BVI. We've done both with our kids and love that we can rent a car, drive around to different beaches/sights, eat at all different restaurants. I'm not sure of your kids' ages, but we are so excited to bring our kids on a sailboat charter. We are waiting until our youngest is about 8, since it is on a boat and we want to be sure they are all good swimmers, etc. before we do that.

Re: January Trip
If you're not hung up on going somewhere warm, look into Woodloch Pines in the Poconos.

This is different. My girls will be 6, 4 and 1. What is there to do?

We went for a long weekend last year. You have two options as to where to stay. You can stay in the hotel section and all of your meals are included. Or you could rent a house on their golf course and take care of meals yourself. We did the second option with 3 other families. So we brought up things like chicken cutlets, baked ziti, cold cuts and breakfast and snack foods. For us it worked, though I will say the food in the dining room looked good. As for things to do, they have a small snow tubing hill, which is perfect for your kids ages. They have outdoor go carts, we just wore our coats. They have an indoor playground that the kids loved. They have a full arcade (the only thing you would pay extra for). They have a small indoor bumper car area. An arts and crafts room that you can go to at any time and use their supplies. The indoor pool area is so nice. A great pool, nice hot tub area, heated kiddy pool, and a separate splash/play area for kids. There are activities and games offered throughout the day. The weekend we were there (MLK weekend) they offered shows every night. We got there late on Friday so we isn't attend. Normally the Saturday night show is adults only, but since it was a holiday weekend they did an earlier show. We all took our kids and every one had a great time. Sunday night just the mommies went and it was a really entertaining show. First there was an acrobatic comedian who was fantastic. Then their was a magician. He was soooo much better then we expected. They also ad a petting zoo with pony rides. All of this was included in the price. If you're interested in skiing there is a slope like 15 minutes away. We put the older kids in 3 hour ski school. They each had an hour private lesson, an hour for down time/snack time, then another hour long private lesson. We thought it was very reasonable compared to Vermont prices and they loved it.

Re: January Trip
I'm going to book the house without the meals. But I have a few questions, if you can help me out.
1.I'm looking at the 3 bedroom Hemlock Guest home. Not sure which one you stayed at but are the bedroom big. Do they have bunk beds?
2. Do I have to bring pots and pans to cook?
3.Are all activities free including snow tubing?
4. How much are private lessons and what is the age reguirements?
I was searching their website but couldn't find rates for ski rentals.
I'm so excited for this!!!

1- we stayed in a 5 bedroom house and it was huge! Every bedroom had its own bathroom, there was a full basement in addition to the main living room. There was a fireplace and the house was modern, clean and nicely decorated. Our bedrooms all had queen or kings, and one bedroom and 2 full size beds. I don't think they Mae bed guarantees since each house is privately owned and assigned on check in. 2- no, the house is fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, glasses, toilet paper, etc... 3- all of the activities are free, except for the arcade games. 4- the skiing is done at Big Bear. Here's a link to the website... http://www.ski-bigbear.com/mountain/?id=7

Re: January Trip
I'm looking for suggestions for a Jan trip as well. Except I will have a 20 month old, I think we'll wait until she is a little older to do Disney. Any other warm destinations that you loved with a toddler? TIA!

2 years ago we went to Punta Cana, weather was perfect and the kids had a blast.
