Jap. Hair Straightening....do you dye your hair?
I really want to get it done and I see so many happy with it....but do you dye your hair?
I am so afraid it'll fry.
I see my hairdresser next week for a cut and dye and plan to talk to her about it.

Do you dye or highlight your hair? I think it is safer if you dye than highlight. if you highlight, Chi makes a special straightening for highlighted hair but it's not as good as regular JHS. If you need the name of someone that does it, you can FM me.

I just dye. have not highlighted in over 3 years.
I want a place I can trust and I know my hairdresser does do it.

I have been getting JHS for 4 and a half years
at first I had high light
then I dyed it back to my natural color
and now- I just get it dyed every few months b/c it lightens in the sun and I don't like it that color
but it is totally safe- my hair is very soft and shiney - and I use NO products and NO special shampoo
it's been almost 8 months and now I am thinking about getting it redone again
I go to top point in Flushing Queens- $200 and my hair is down to my bra strap
I have paid over $600 and had someone who charges $1K ( but did mine for free b/c I was a model for her in a hair show) and none of those compare to top point

it's best to get the JHS then dye it 2 to 3 weeks later- b/c the JHS will lighten your hair alittle

Beth - will top point do your hair if it is highlighted? I had a friend that went there and they told her they wouldnt do it if it was highlighted.

really? I don't know- I never asked- my hair was back to my natural color when I started going there
FM reggie- I think she has another reasonably priced place in queens

my hair is just above my bra strap, but needs a trim (I had no time since the wedding!)
I feel weird going to those "mill" type places where you blow it yourself and such, by myself. Do they even care if it fried off?

The place that beth goes is an assembly line type place if i am remembering what my friend told me correctly. But they do it better than anywhere i have ever seen and for the best price.

They did my very thin, highlighted hair at Top Point, and it came out great!

they don't make you blow dry your own hair- that's the place in woodside
Top Point is a full service salon!
my hair dired straight- and even now only takes 10 minutes to blow dry!

I got my hair JHS'd at Top Point - but they told me I needed to wait for my appointment because I just had my hair highlighted. I think the wait time was 3 weeks.
I'm debating doing it again. It's only been 5 months. Still straight but with a wave in the front now. I can't wait to get it done again.

That's a good reason to wait. I'd hate to get it done have to deal with this curl thing again in mid August. I need to work out this schedule so I get it done in the beginning of the summer. I'll see how long I can hold out. BTW, we all mentioned your name Beth - so they should be giving you something off.
