Japanese Hair Straightening

Hi Everyone. I'm looking to get this done and have so many questions and I'm so nervous. Where should I go to get it done? How much does it cost? (my hair is thick and to the middle of my back) What is the difference between Brazilian and Japanese? Can I dye my hair with Japanese? Any info would be greatly appreciated. TIA Chat Icon

Re: Japanese Hair Straightening

The one difference I know is that the Brazilian washses out after 8-12 weeks. But the Japanese you need touch ups

Re: Japanese Hair Straightening

***Where should I go to get it done?
I got it done twice at Top Point in Queens. Other girls have gone to Hair Village in Queens. There are places on LI that do it but expect to pay more money (about double).

****How much does it cost? (my hair is thick and to the middle of my back)
My hair was also thick and to the middle of my back and it was $230. Expect to pay $500 and up on LI.

***What is the difference between Brazilian and Japanese?
Japanese Straighening uses chemicals simialr to the chemicals used in permanent waving, but instead of winding your hiar around rods, it is blowdried and ironed straight and then the neutralizer is applied.
Brazilian straightening uses "keratin" to straighten your hair. However, there are other chemicals used, such as formaldehyde, in Brazilian Straightening.
The "keratin" washes out over timeo Braz. Straighening only lasts 3-4 months. Jap. Straightening is permanent, but the roots will grow in curly or your natural texture.

***Can I dye my hair with Japanese?
Yes you can, but you should wait a few weeks. I would NOT use bleach a long with JHS.

HTH. See this website Milbon Liscio for FAQs on JHS. (JHS = Thermal Reconditioning) Liscio is the best product to use (in my reserach) and this is what Top Point uses. I use Janice at Top Point.
There are pics in my album if you are interested.

Re: Japanese Hair Straightening

I have had JHS 2x a year for the last 4 years. I love it!!!!!!
I go to Hayato in the city
they cost about 230

4yrs ago it wasn't as popular so I went into the city and they are soooo awesome. They are alll Japanese themselves and they care about your hair. They actually require you to come for a hair analysis. My friend wa stold to wait 6 months since she had dyed her hair a year ago. THey don't necessary do everyone to get $

Good luck
