japanese hair straightening spin off

Is it permanent? Does it permanently change your hair? I love my hair, which has some curl to it, but would love to have it super straight for awhile and all the pics of girls who have done it on here look fabulous!

It's not permanent. Once it grows out, you have your wave back. Also mine isnt' Morticia Adams straight - it was only like that in the beginning. Now it looks more naturally straight.

Good thing the related topics are only 5 threads..Chat Icon

Ohhh it grows out?
So at some point, half your head is wavy/curly and the bottom half is straight. (if you only do it once of course)

my hair was pretty straight when i got it done, but i still had to blow it out to make it smooth and put together. i have thick hair so if i let it air dry it would be puffy. when i got js it was great because i've had to do nothing and i'll probably do it again since i have 3 kids and no time to do anything with my hair, but i did have alot of breakage.

Re: japanese hair straightening spin off

mine is about 5 months old- you can only tell underneath- there is a slight wave

but when I blow it dry- which still takes only 10 minutes- you can't tell

yup i have to redo mine this month. I have about 4-5 inches o curly hair and the rest is straight. But since I dont have to blowdry the length, it only takes about 10-15 minutes as opposed to an hour.

depends how fast your hair grows and how curly your roots are for when you should go a second time

Re: japanese hair straightening spin off

I did it a year ago and it is still very straight on the ends and growing in at the top. A lot of my hair broke off so I have a crown of short hair around my head.

I am quoting myself to add- that my hair never curled from the root

and this was my 8th time getting it done

I am going again in November

Re: japanese hair straightening spin off

i just got mine done about 2 wks ago. the first week it was pin straight and no volume. And I have thick, wavy hair to begin with.

Now it looks much more natural. It's staright but requires NO maintence!

I air dry it and put a little spray in conditioner and it looks great even when i wake up the next morning.

I am so loving it already!

I have pretty curly hair, which I do like sometimes.

Will I ever have my natural curls back if I do japanese straightening? or, does it change the texture of your hair forever? i am just ready for a change, and if I did this I don't want to regret it...

Is it typical to have a lot of breakage? My hair gets dry VERY easily. And, is it a problem if your hair is highlighted? My hair is ALWAYS highlighted!

Thanks for all the answers!

I would love to see that because like my highlights... I do them and then after a while I just want my natural hair back.

Re: japanese hair straightening spin off

I did it JHS about 2 months ago. I have very wavy and semi curly hair. I also highlighted my hair 3wks after I did the JHS. I do like the fact that it takes me 10min to blowdry and off I go. I do miss my wavy hair at times but with a baby on the way and time always being a problem, I may continue to do this look. I also get compliments on it and how its so sleek and healthy looking.

Here are the before and after pics:

Re: japanese hair straightening spin off

Here are my pics of the hair growing out.
I got it done at the end of May. My hair before was really wavy/loose curls (kinda like the OPs) As it gros in, it is not curly, but a big wave. 4 months aftr getting the treatment, I still do not blowdry the full head. On only blowdry the front and top layer of my hair, and I let the underneath airdry. I since I blowdry the top, it hides the new growth. I honestly only blowdry to 2-3 minutes max.

Hope this helps!
